After an early start to growth, weather conditions in August and at the beginning of September caused slow ripening, making it possible to focus on freshness and ensure long ageing. Since the grapes were disease-free and perfectly ripe, harvesting could be carried out with full attention to detail. These wines are dense with beautiful fruity aromas and delicate grilled hints. The wines are dense, well balanced and have very elegant freshness.
This vintage benefitted from weather conditions that contributed to the production of perfectly ripe grapes. These wines are bright ink black. On the nose, the ripe fruit aromas are fresh, not jammy. Pure red cherries, raspberries, and blackberries. On the palate they display lovely concentration with substance, but are in no way heavy. Their silky tannins balance perfectly with their supple richness. These wines are powerfull and concentrated, but velvet smooth and subtle too.
2009 Château Beychevelle displays not only finesse and balance, but also enormous power. It can undoubtedly be considered as one of the estate’s historic vintages, and we will be delighted to compare it
with other great years.
Black fruit, sweet spices, and light tobacco; rounded on the palate, Château Beychevelle 2009 is characterized by finesse and balance.
We had a great vintage! The longer growing season made it possible to concentrate on each varietal, each plot of land with great precision… The Merlots were fresh and full of fruit.
The Cabernets matured slowly; They had beautiful colour and were full of aroma and soft velvety tannins.
Blending was the key!
Floral bouquet. Notes of ripe fruit, blackcurrants, cedar, and spices.
A dense, rich wine with very refined, well-integrated tannins. Excellent length; overall, an elegant, balanced wine.
The low yield of the vine promotes the ripening of the Cabernet Sauvignon, of a stunning precision. They come naturally to equilibrate with the roundness of the Merlot, to deliver a wine of classic style with elegant finesse. Still slightly on the reserve, Cos d’Estournel 2008 with beautiful freshness rounds gradually, the powerful notes permitting the appearance of a bright fruit.
The 2010 vintage of Chateau d’Issan 2010, classified under the Margaux appellation, appears as concentrated as the 2009, but with a vivacity, a fresh aroma and a much higher degree of richness. This great wine of the Margaux appellation presents a subtle and deep nose. The attack on the palate is broad and generous. This wine is ample, bold and powerful, while maintaining a beautiful elegance and a coated finish typical of the great Margaux wines.
The wine is deep in color, with a lovely tint of garnet. The nose is complex, its numerous traits dominated by a note of fresh black fruits (blackberries, black cherries) but also with an elegant floral touch. The attack is gentle and supple, full and generous in the mouth thereafter, and finally yielding truly voluptuous sensations in a very long finish.
The 2009 Ducru-Beaucaillou boasts a beautiful deep violet robe. In the mouth, it exhibits a thick and luscious structure, as well as dense, albeit velvety and elegant, tannins. Its fruit is at once rich and dazzling and its finish silky smooth and wonderfully persistent.
The legendary vintage of 2000 has a young deep crimson colour. The nose offers opulence and concentration with intense aromas of plum, blackberry, red pepper and violets. This wine needs substantial aeration to develop its richness and complexity with an elegant minerality. This balance remains very persistent in the mouth.
Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2008 presents an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it offers blackberries aromas dominated by the cassis. In the mouth, this wine has a great aromatic attack with a lot of texture and fruits. Its breed is evident in the splendid length of the finish. Its shows already great balance and style, but it will need time to age to express all its charm.
The 2007 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has a bright ruby red color. On the nose, this wine presents a wonderful aromatic complexity with a touch of black berries and cherry aromas trimmed with spices, vanilla and liquorices. On the palate, this velvety, well concentrated wine shows a nice fruit extract. It is a very charming wine with silky tannins and beautiful harmony.
Beautiful color, very deep with a mixing of the Haut-Brion ruby and its purple-violet shade of youth. Swishing the wine around in the glass gives a notion of its density. This complexity is followed up in the aromas that suddenly burst forth all at once: a woody hint of fine polished oak, mulberry jam, cherry pits, a touch of blackcurrant, and the bittersweet of mango. One discovers this complexness again with even more violence in the mouth. The specific notes of this vintage: the finesse of mocha, the toasted trace of praline all join with the above, melding together with tannins of great complexity and softness. The finish is never ending… Exceptional bottle. To be drunk today, tomorrow and surely even 100 years from now.
Dense ruby/purple, with notes of creosote, spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry fruit, this is a rich, medium to full-bodied wine with loads of character and depth. It is usually one of the better values of Bordeaux and it certainly stands out as a major sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025.
