94 points Neal Martin’s Wine Journal: “Tasted at Bordeaux Index’s “10-Year On” tasting in London. The 2003 Chateau Margaux has a lovely nose with superb delineation – blackberry, cedar, minerals and wilted violets. To be brutally honest, it is clearly streets ahead of Palmer that was tasted in tandem. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and (hoorah!) a decent thread of acidity. It is not a complex Margaux, but it has personality, fine balance, elegance and admirable tension and race towards the finish. This First Growth shows its class. Excellent. Tasted March 2013.” (05/2013)
Alejandro Fernández’s Château
This prestigious estate is covered by a continuous expanse of around 200 hectares of prime Tempranillo vines. Alejandro Fernández’s vineyards have grown on the banks of the River Duero next to poplar and willow groves in a land that has become legendary, since 1987.
However, Alejandro had to wait until 1993 for the estate at Condado de Haza to be up and running and become totally self-sufficient, and for the whole winemaking process, from the vine to the bottle, to be carried out exclusively in the bodega.
To facilitate the winemaking process and perfect his wines, the bodega’s structure was designed by boring into a hillside in order for the ageing room, which hosts 3,000 new barrels and wine racks in a 200 m tunnel excavated at almost 30 m below the vineyard, to maintain the ideal natural temperature and humidity for storing wine.
“This rich red shows a deep core of plum, bramble and mineral, with notes of loam and game that impart a savory character. Solid tannins support a thick texture, while balsamic acidity keeps this balanced. Austere but harmonious. Drink now through 2024.”

Alenza Gran Reserva is a red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero which is only produced when the best vintages are obtained. Its winemaking is conducted traditionally, without destemming and squeezing the grapes. This Ribera del Duero wine has a great ageing capacity. It is aged for two years in American oak barrels. It is finally left to stand in the bottle for a while. Red wine produced by Alejandro Fernández, owner of the Pesquera group, in his winery Condado de Haza, located in the municipality of Roa, in the region of Burgos.
Beautiful ruby red colour with brick red edges. Clean and bright.
Intense and rich wine. Aromas of fine leather, muddy reminiscences, tobacco and delicate and intense spiced notes are perceived, which little by little give way to very ripe black fruit. Smoked notes in the background. Complex wine, full of nuances.
In the mouth, it is soft, elegant and balanced, with a round mid-palate, medium-full bodied, with sweet tannins and a good acidity. Correct length and great persistence which brings back toasted and smoked reminiscences.
