Very appealing and complex with intense, multi-layered aromas of sweet dark, cassis fruit with exotic spices, minerals and tobacco in the background. The palate is full of ripe, sweet fruits balanced by seamless tannins. Pure redcurrant, blackberry and dark plum flavours intermingle elegantly with exotic spices and an energetic, refreshing acidity. This is a very elegant and refined wine.
Complex, concentrated, great freshness and vibrant fruit. Cassis, leaves, licorice, good structure. The d’Issa holds a long history is probably in the best shape. Cabernet Sauvignon (61%) and Merlot (39%).
A model of elegance and symmetry, this 2004 d’Issan possesses a dark ruby/purple color as well as floral, raspberry, cherry, and blueberry aromas interwoven with notions of licorice and toasty oak. Beautiful ripeness, medium body, and a delicate integration of tannin and wood result in a pure Margaux
The 2009 Ducru-Beaucaillou is a rich, generous, and luscious wine. Solid and voluptuously built around ripe and dense tannins, it is fruity and fresh, with a perfect acidity. Its finale is unending and sensual.
Les vendanges sont manuelles avec double tri. Après égrappage, les vinifications sont conduites en cuves inox thermorégulées avec cuvaison d’une vingtaine de jours. Le vin est élevé de 18 à 20 mois en barriques de chêne. La proportion de barriques neuves, de 70% en 2009, est adaptée au millésime. Pauillac des plus classiques et des plus réputés, le vin est, année après année, d’une grande qualité.
Unsmoked cigar tobacco intermixed with plums, red and black currants presented in an evolved style characterize this dark plum/garnet-colored effort. Medium-bodied, delicious and evolved, it is best consumed over the next 10-12 years.
A VERY GOOD YEAR The 2006 vintage is the fruit of a very contrasted climate. During that year, the environmental conditions were changing in a very unusual manner, passing from one extreme to another, throughout the entire year right up until the end of the grape harvest. Fortunately, within this strange context, spring and summer were both, in general, hot and dry. One hundred seasonal workers, ladouring day after day for three full months (early laef-thinning at the end of June, a green harvest and then a secondary leaf-thinning), allowed wine-maker to wait patiently for the absolute peak of each variety of grape on every parcel of the vineyard.
The wine opens with espresso, boysenberry and earthy aromas. This leads to a lively, fresh, soft textured, medium bodied Margaux wine. Better than previous vintages, (and the 2010 is even better) with a firm commitment to producing the best wines possible from their terroir, you can expect good things in the future from Labegorce, which fortunately for consumers, remains a well priced Margaux wine.
One of the fabulous surprises.., the 2006 Lafite Rothschild is a great, great wine…Frankly, it may turn out to be as good as the 2005, which in all of Bordeaux is a far greater vintage than 2006. Lafite’s severe selection process resulted in a full-bodied wine boasting an extraordinary perfume of charcoal, truffles, lead pencil shavings, and sensationally sweet, ripe black currant and cedar notes. A wine of extraordinary intensity, texture, and depth with silky tannins as well as awesome concentration, this has turned out to be a remarkable Lafite Rothschild that should be drinkable much earlier than the 2005, but age for three decades.
Wine garnet-red color. Soft and full taste of the wine shows a pleasant acidity and well-balanced silky texture. The aroma of wine combines delicate shades of currants, cherries and plums, gentle tone of sweet spice and leather. Wine is served to the game and poultry, is well suited to red meat and grilled meat, it is recommended in combination with cheese.
